A medal is remembered for its weight

The first decision is not the diameter, but the material. A 50 mm stamped iron medal weighs around 25-30 grams and is the right option when you need to hand out hundreds of units at the end of a company race. A 60-70 mm cast zamak medal weighs twice as much or more, has true relief and coloured enamel, and you notice it as soon as you pick it up: it makes sense when you present it in front of the whole team, and it costs quite a bit more. Increasing the diameter without changing the material only makes the piece bigger.

The second decision is the ribbon, and it is always underestimated. A 20-25 mm sublimated ribbon with the event name is what people see while they are wearing it. If your brand is already on the ribbon, the centre of the medal can stay clean, with the year and the reason, and it reads much better. It is the same approach we use for custom lanyards: a small logo and the important information at a readable size.

What we need from you for the quote

These medals are not in the online catalogue: they are made from your specifications. With this, we prepare the quote and the mock-up:

• Quantity and, if there are categories or placings, how many of each. The minimum quantity depends on the mould or die and we will confirm it with the quote; with iron and zamak, the die or mould cost is spread across the pieces, so for short runs wood and acrylic usually work out better.
• Material, diameter and finish of the metal: gold, silver, bronze, black nickel or antique copper.
• Front and back: what goes on each side and whether the back has a different name for each person.
• Ribbon: colours, text and fastening type; it can change colour by category.
• Date of the event, so we can plan with enough time.
• Logo in vector format (SVG, AI or PDF); if you only have PNG or JPG, we will check it and tell you whether it works.

How a medal with your logo is made

   Quote and mock-up

   Within 24 working hours you receive the quote and a free mock-up showing the front, the back and the ribbon.

   Approval and payment

   You pay when you approve the mock-up. For iron and zamak, the die or mould is then produced; for wood and acrylic, we work directly with laser cutting or UV printing, with no tooling.

   Production and delivery

   The usual lead time is two to three weeks from approval; zamak pieces with a custom mould can take a little longer. We ship with tracking to one address or split across several sites, throughout the EU.

When a medal works, and what to pair it with

The three most common uses are company sports events, where an iron medal with a sublimated ribbon rounds off a charity race or tournament; internal recognition for years of service or for a project, with zamak or acrylic and the name engraved on the back; and convention or hackathon awards, where several zamak medals come to a similar total as a single trophy. As a standalone item, a medal can end up in a drawer; presented with a card explaining why it is being awarded, it becomes something else entirely.
