Wood, graphite and a narrow print area

Branded pencils are practical because graphite does not dry out or clog: a pencil left in a drawer for two years will still write first time and can be used right to the end, which is exactly what you want from an item with your brand on it. The standard grade for a promotional pencil is HB, the middle of the scale, between hard, lighter leads (H) and soft, darker ones (B). For drawing and sketching, there are sets with softer graphite, such as 2B.

A wooden pencil is usually about 17 to 19 cm long and has a barrel 7 to 8 mm in diameter. Your logo sits in a strip only 3 to 5 mm high along the barrel, so there is really only room for a horizontal logo and little else: a single-line version works best. The wood can be lacquered in colour or left natural, and laser engraving on wood gives a toasted tone, with no ink.

Everlasting writing: the pencil you do not need to sharpen

Everlasting pencils, also called infinite pencils or inkless pens, have a graphite-alloy tip that writes like a pencil, can be erased with a rubber and does not need a sharpener. One can replace many wooden pencils, which is why it works well as a desk gift that lasts for years.

They are made in bamboo or aluminium, often with an eraser at the end, and there are also everlasting coloured pencil sets with a recycled paper barrel. The barrel can take pad printing in several colours or engraving: laser on aluminium and CO₂ on bamboo. If you would rather use ink, the next step is branded pens.

Which pencil to choose

Typical mistakes when personalising pencils

• Trying to fit a square or two-line logo into a strip only 3 to 5 mm high: it shrinks so much that it is no longer readable.
• Using fine lines or gradients. On wood, ink spreads slightly, so thicker strokes and solid colours work better.
• Choosing laser engraving on dark lacquered wood and expecting strong contrast: laser looks better on natural wood or bamboo.
• Treating the pencil as an individual gift. On its own it does not look like much; it works in quantity, on a training table, or paired with a notebook or notepad.
• Forgetting the case on coloured pencil sets: it is the largest surface on the product and where the logo is properly seen.

Where they fit and what to pair them with

Order and lead times

Each model can be ordered from 10 units per item, with a minimum order of CZK 2,444 per quote, excluding VAT and delivery. We send you a free mock-up with your logo shown to scale on the pencil, you pay once you approve it, and production usually takes two to three weeks depending on the branding method and quantity. Delivery is tracked to one address or several, across the European Union.
